I was born in the North of England, but exiled to the far south by the demands of family and work for twenty years. I returned to live in Teesdale in 2002. Now home, I try to paint my experience of the northern hills, where I walk and sketch as often as I can. Always a keen photographer it was not until 1995 that early retirement provided me with an opportunity to take up painting. Living in rural Teesdale I am inspired by the beautiful scenes on my doorstep. My upbringing on a dairy farm also influences my choice of subject.
My favourite work depicts misty morning scenes with hedgerows and ploughed fields. In 1998 I held my first exhibition. I paint in oils and acrylics but my favourite media is watercolour. My pictures are offered for sale but most of all I want you to enjoy them and would welcome feedback from all viewers.
