Barnard Castle Library was opened in 1976, it is situated off the front street between Oxfam Shop and Clinton Cards offering a wide range of services and facilities for you and your family to enjoy. There is enough space behind the library for one car for use by the disabled. The library has a passenger lift at the main entrance which gives access to the main library for use by the less able and people with prams etc.

The village hall was built in 1887 by the London Lead Company as a Mechanics Institute reading and lecture room. The clock featured on the outside of the building was installed in remembrance to those who fell in World War II.
